Instruction

Revising Instruction

Please read and check the following items one by one. If there is any discrepancy, please make corrections or supplements.

1 General Instruction

(1) When sending back the revised manuscript, authors should answer the questions raised by reviewers in detail on a separate page, explaining whether the suggestions are accepted and corresponding modifications are made in the article. If authors do not agree with the reviewer's comments or have not made any modifications, please provide reasons.

(2) If authors agree with the review comment, then the corresponding modification must be made, rather than just stating your agreement in a reply to the editorial office.

(3) It is recommended to write a statement to elaborate on the basis, significance, innovation, and background of the research topic, so that experts in final review meeting can know more about the manuscript within a short time.

2 Article Title

Title of article should clearly and concisely reflect the essence and characteristics of the research results, be of appropriate length, and avoid using non-standard abbreviations, symbols, and codes. Common names or pharmacopoeia names shall be used for drugs. Chinese and English titles should be consistent in meaning.

3 Author Information

(1) The institutes should be written with the standard full name. If the first author or the first author's institute needs to be changed, a statement and a new Recommendation Letter should be provided.

(2) Please include all author names in both Chinese and English, and indicate all their affiliations.

(3) Please provide a brief introduction of the first author or/and the corresponding author, including gender, degree/title, research direction, contact phone number, and E-mail (Please also provide a mobile phone number for contacting, which will not be published in the article).

 (4) The title and approval number of funding project, as well as a photocopy of certificate, should be provided.

4 Abstract

(1) All articles should include English and Chinese abstracts.

(2) Abstract should objectively and fully reflect the novelty and main content of the article, and be consistent with the main text, including four parts: objective, methods, results, and conclusion (except for review articles), with appropriate details. The objective can be summarized in 1-2 sentences. The methods should include sufficient information. New method should be described in detail. Important experimental results should have specific data.

(3) Figures/tables and references should not appear in abstract.

(4) When abbreviations appear for the first time, the full name should be given, followed by the abbreviation in parentheses. Try not to mix Chinese characters and English abbreviations.

(5) If authors have difficulties in English writing, it’s recommended to invite professionals to polish the manuscript.

(6) There should be added 3-8 keywords, and the Chinese and English keywords should be completely consistent.

5 Introduction

 (1) In the introduction, authors should talk about the background and current situation of relevant research at home and abroad, quoting representative references, especially the latest developments in the past 2-3 years, and explaining the research purpose of the article, the problems to be solved, and the methods adopted.

(2) When introducing the background, domestic researches and literatures should not be overlooked.

(3) It is necessary to introduce the author’s previously published literature in order to maintain coherence and completeness of information.

(4) The length of introduction should be within 300-500 Chinese characters.

(5) Introduction section should not cover experimental results.
(6) When quoting literature of multiple authors, mention only the first author followed by “et al”.

A good introduction writing greatly affects the reviewer's choice of article.

6 Format

Experimental research can be written in the format of "1. Materials (including drugs, reagents, instruments, etc. If animal involved, please indicate the animal certificate number); 2. Methods; 3. Results; 4. Discussion". Clinical articles can be written in the format of "1. Materials and Methods; 2. Results; 3. Discussion". The formats are not mandatory, but the article structure should be clear, headings added to each section. The batch number of drugs and main reagents should be provided. Animal source, certificate number, license number, animal experiment operator certificate number should be provided. The approval number should be provided if hospital preparations are involved.

7 Figures and Tables

(1) Figures and tables should avoid repetition and be sparing. Data from the same source only needs to be expressed once. Try to arrange more information in less figure/table. As long as text can be used to describe data (such as only 3-5 items of data), figures/tables shall be avoided.

(2) Headings and notations should be bilingual but the content only in Chinese. Three-line style should be adopted. "Blank" represents unmeasured items; "-" represents undetected items; and "0" represents zero measured results.

(3) Figures and tables should be self-explanatory that information about the experimental subjects, methods, conditions, and results can be obtained from the figures/tables and their titles and annotations, without reading the main text.

8 Discussion (conclusion)

Research article should have a conclusion section. The conclusion is a brief summary of the entire work, which is an extension of results and discussion, rather than a simple repetition of them, not identical to the abstract. Authors should logically analyze the experimental or observational results from a theoretical perspective and draw appropriate conclusions. The content of the conclusion mainly includes the principles and universal significance revealed by the experimental results of the article, similarities and differences compared with previous work, unresolved problems, and suggestions for further work.

The conclusions of some manuscripts do not have sound basis in the text and are not obtained from the results of the study, just based on textbooks or other literature. Some results in the text are not analyzed or insufficiently analyzed. Some analysis and discussion have obvious flaws. Sometimes, the first few paragraphs are a review, while the last few paragraphs are a repetition of the article results, not focusing on results and combining them with other researches. Those articles are with poor logicality and ungrounded results and conclusion that do not correspond to the analytical discussions section.

9 References

(1) The literature description should be complete and accurate.

(2) Please use the format of PubMed for English references.

(3) Only the first three authors are listed followed by “et al”.

(4) Volume, number and page range should not be omitted.

(5) Outdated references should be avoided. Common sense within the research field may not be supported by references. If there are recent literatures, it can also be supplemented.

(6) Please do not cite literature where authors have not personally read the original text.

(7) According to statistics, the mistake rate in references of revised manuscripts is 50%, which means there will be one mistake in every two references. Therefore, please carefully check the original literature to ensure the accuracy of references.
